Following a call by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) asking the Anambra state House of Assembly to impeach Governor Willie Obiano, Anambra lawmakers have replied that they can't impeach the governor.
The lawmakers said the call was mischievous and those making the call do not understand the Nigerian constitution
Anambra state House of Assembly has faulted the call by a non-lawmaker and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members demanding to impeach Governor Willie Obiano.
Chairman of PDP, Anambra chapter had earlier made a call for the governor to be impeached on Monday, February 20, 2017 after a stakeholders’ meeting. There are claims that Governor Obiano broke two laws.

A member of Anambra House of Assembly representing Onitsha north, Chugbo Enwezor, who spoke on behalf of the House said Emeakaye’s request showed somebody that was ignorant of the provisions of the constitution on impeachment proceedings on a governor, Daily Post reports.
He said: “That statement was ill conceived and came from somebody who does not understand the constitutional provisions of section 188 (1-11) and section 190 of the 1999 constitution as amended.
“First and foremost, he lacks knowledge of the law. The call is mischievous and should be discountenanced.”
Enwezor said no governor can be impeached on the mere request from opposition members and the governor would be impeached without any need for petition if the House found him wanting in his duty.
Meanwhile, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) on Monday, February 6, warned Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state and his Anambra state counterpart, Chief Willie Obiano to keep quiet and stop washing their dirty clothes in the public.
This comes even as the group advised both leaders and other governors of the South East zone to emulate the simplicity and humility of the former governor Peter Obi, as the best Igbo governor during his era.
